Our story
Machine City was founded in 2009 by B.K. Singla, watching India's manufacturing sector grow — and watching small workshop owners get shortchanged by middlemen.
Used machinery is a market built on trust. A 1999 Proth surface grinder isn't a commodity. Its real value lives in the condition of its ways, the integrity of its spindle, the documentation in its operator manual. None of that shows up on a price tag, and no algorithm has ever measured it correctly.
We've spent 16 years building the relationships that do. Today, Machine City has helped trade over 5,000 machines across India, with operations spanning imports from Canada, the USA, and Singapore. We're proud to be the partner that buyers can call before they buy, and sellers can trust to find the right home for a machine they've maintained for decades.
What we do
Buy used machinery from trusted owners
We source from Indian workshops winding down, from overseas auctions in North America and Southeast Asia, and from manufacturing units upgrading their floor.
Connect buyers to the right machine
Our listings are honest. We don't dress up condition. We don't inflate specifications. If a machine has wear on the table, we'll tell you before you make the trip.
Move machinery across India
Our buyers are everywhere from Coimbatore to Faridabad, and our network handles the logistics so the machine arrives where you need it.
What we don't do (yet)
We believe in being honest about what we offer.
We don't perform certified inspections. A buyer's own engineer visit is the right way to verify condition before a major purchase. We facilitate that visit.
We don't handle installation or commissioning. Once a machine reaches your floor, your team or your preferred installer takes over.
We don't offer financing. All transactions are direct between buyer and seller.
These are deliberate choices. We focus on what we do well — sourcing, vetting listings, and connecting people who want a machine to people who have one.
Why used machinery
A new CNC mill from Japan is a beautiful thing. So is a 20-year-old Bridgeport that's still running tight tolerances after three decades of work.
In our experience, the difference between them isn't quality — it's economics. A used machine well-maintained delivers 90% of new performance at 30–40% of the cost. For Indian workshops competing on margin, that math matters.
The catch is that the used market is full of pitfalls. The machine that looked great in the photos was missing a tailstock. The 'barely used' lathe had been stored outdoors. The motor was actually rewound, twice.
Machine City exists to remove those pitfalls.

What's next for us
We're building Machine City into India's most trusted online marketplace for industrial machinery.
- Verified inspection partnerships with independent engineers
- Pan-India delivery options
- A spare parts marketplace
- A reverse marketplace where buyers post requirements
We'll roll these out when we can do them right.
