Abwood SG 4H

The primary advantage of the Abwood SG4H precision vertical spindle surface grinder over a standard horizontal wheel surface grinder is its high material removal rate (stock removal) and efficiency when flat-facing components.

Because the Abwood SG4H utilizes a vertically oriented spindle paired with a cylinder cup wheel, the face of the wheel directly contacts the entire width of the workpiece surface. By contrast, a horizontal grinder uses the narrow periphery (edge) of the wheel, making the vertical design much faster for production flat grinding.

* Thru-Spindle Cooling: The Abwood SG4H features coolant through the spindle. Because a vertical cup wheel traps heat over a larger contact surface, sending coolant directly out of the center of the spindle forces chips and heat outward, eliminating thermal distortion and preventing the wheel from loading up.

* Floor Space Efficiency: Vertical spindle grinders inherently stack their drive mechanics vertically. The SG4H provides a substantial 500 x 200 mm work capacity while maintaining a relatively compact footprint compared to a horizontal grinder with an equivalent structural capacity.
