About the Category
Grinding machines use a bonded abrasive wheel to remove material and produce precision surfaces with tolerances and finishes that no other machining process can achieve economically. Surface grinders produce flat, parallel faces to micron-level accuracy. Cylindrical grinders produce precise OD and ID surfaces on shafts, pins, and bores. Tool and cutter grinders sharpen and recondition cutting tools to extend tool life and maintain cutting geometry. Grinding is the last — and often most critical — machining operation in precision component manufacturing.
The used grinding machine market in India is well-established, with machines from Chevalier (Taiwan), Okamoto and Mitsui Seiki (Japan), and European brands (Studer, Jones & Shipman, Schaudt) regularly available. Indian manufacturers (Bharat Fritz Werner, Lakshmi Machine Works) have also produced quality surface grinders. A well-maintained used grinder at 30–50% of new cost delivers identical precision output to a new machine — precision grinding is a process of setup skill and wheel selection as much as machine quality.
Our grinding machinery inventory covers three subcategories: Surface Grinding Machines (for flat, parallel surface finishing), Cylindrical Grinding Machines (for precision OD and ID grinding of shafts and bores), and Tool and Cutter Grinding Machines (for resharpening cutting tools and maintaining tool geometry).

Buyer’s Guide
Vibration from worn wheel spindle bearings transfers directly to the ground surface as waviness, chatter marks, or burn. Run the machine to full speed and feel the spindle housing — any vibration, even subtle, requires bearing replacement before precision grinding is possible.
Grinding machines require a vibration-isolated, level concrete pad for specified precision. Even small vibrations from adjacent machines or vehicle traffic degrade surface finish. Assess your floor before purchase — retrofitting a proper foundation adds time and cost.
Inspect the installed grinding wheel for cracks (use the ring test — a clear ring indicates integrity). Confirm the wheel specification matches your workpiece material (aluminium oxide for hardened steel, CBN or diamond for carbide). A cracked wheel is a safety hazard and must be replaced before use.
On hydraulic surface grinders, run the table at all stroke lengths and speeds. Jerky or inconsistent table motion produces stripes across the ground surface. Smooth, uniform traverse throughout the full stroke is the key indicator of hydraulic system health.

Every enquiry gets a direct response from our team — no automated replies, no call queues. WhatsApp or call; we answer.
For machines in our Mohali yard, arrange a visit before committing. See the machine under power, ask every question.
The chuck surface must be flat to within 0.005 mm for precision grinding — any chuck cup or twist produces the same defect in every part. Ask when the chuck was last re-ground, or measure flatness directly with a precision straight-edge before committing.
