Browse used chain hoists, wire rope hoists, lever hoists & electric hoists — 0.5 to 20 tonne capacity. Manual & electric. Pan-India availability.
An industrial hoist is a mechanical lifting device for raising and lowering heavy loads — machine components, raw material, tooling fixtures, and large workpieces — within a workshop or yard. Hoists are essential in machine shops for loading workpieces onto machine tables, placing components in fixtures, and for machine installation and maintenance. The two fundamental types are chain hoists (using a link chain as the lifting medium) and wire rope hoists (using a steel cable). Both are available in manual and electric versions.
The critical specification is the capacity (in tonnes), which must exceed the heaviest load by a significant safety margin — lifting regulations in India recommend a safety factor of at least 5:1 for industrial hoists. Lift height determines the maximum vertical distance the hook can travel, which must accommodate the full range of positions in your lifting application. Hoist type matters for maintenance: chain hoists are simpler to inspect and maintain; wire rope hoists offer longer lift heights and smoother operation for precision load placement.
Machine City stocks used chain hoists (Yale, Kito, ACCO, Uniline), wire rope hoists, and lever hoists from both Indian and international manufacturers. Used hoists in good condition at 30–50% of new cost are a sensible purchase for shops with established overhead crane systems.

Buyer’s Guide
Never operate a hoist above its rated capacity. Confirm the hoist capacity (tonnes) exceeds your maximum single-lift load with a comfortable safety margin.
Inspect the lift chain for stretch, cracks, corrosion, and wear at the link pivot points. Stretched chain indicates overloading in the past. Inspect the top and bottom hooks for cracks and verify the safety latches engage.
Check for broken wires (more than 2 broken wires per lay length means immediate replacement), kinks, bird-caging, or corrosion. A damaged wire rope is a serious safety hazard.
On electric hoists, verify the motor brake holds the load stationary when the power is cut. A slipping brake will allow the load to drift or drop — a potentially fatal failure.
Check pendant control buttons for contact wear. Verify all limit switches (upper and lower) stop movement before the hook reaches the physical end of travel. Check motor insulation resistance.
